  We were offered a heavily discounted rate for a 2 bedroom unit for 2 couples which we initially thought was excellent value with the premise that we had to attend a sales presentation for a timeshare option for 1.5 hours - which I will describe in further detail shortly.
  
  On arrival we found the bedding configuration was incorrect (1 king and 2 single beds in separate rooms) after having a confirmation email which clearly said "4 adults and 2 beds".
  
  We called reception to remedy the issue and were met with a response that the sole caretaker for the whole property was not trained to adjust the bedding and that it would have to be done tomorrow.
  
  My friend and his wife slept on 2 single beds with a gap in the middle that night.
  
  While this may not have been the acting manager's fault - how can the business allow an untrained member to be the sole representative and front line for the entire resort ?
  
  Not a great start to our holiday after a 6 hour drive up from Sydney.
  
  Then things just went downhill from there...
  
  - No oven in a self contained apartment (be prepared to hostel it out with takeaway food)
  - No wardrobe in our room (suitcase had to be put in the bath tub)
  - Second room had no space to put suitcase at all and was tiny
  - Miniature frying pan useful only for making pikelets
  - Mini-bar sized fridge unfit for 4 people worth of groceries in a 2 bedroom unit
  
  The next day the housekeeper sorted out the beds and was the only staff member who expressed sympathy for our previous night's experience.
  
  On to the presentation - we were offered a timeshare membership for a low price of just $37900 + $1056 per year locked in to a contract until 2080.
  
  When asked if there is anything stopping us from going ahead with a purchase - we gave the salespeople our feedback on the shortcomings we experienced the night before. It was clear at that point that the issues we had were not communicated to anyone and the matter was not escalated in any way.
  
  What was quite interesting was that the sales office (a converted unit) was better appointed with a full sized fridge, an oven and was more spacious than our unit.
  
  Unfortunately despite our complaints and feedback there were no attempts to make contact or follow up within the 3 days of our stay - and we decided to leave one night earlier and forfeit our prepaid accomodation in favour of one of the nearby competitors.
  
  The key factors to win our patronage were significant differences in professionalism and customer service for which we were happy pay a premium.
